While the instructions say “keep out of reach of children five and under,” I know from experience that there is no greater joy for my two-year-old daughter than vacuuming up crumbs with her magic pig. (There’s a cow too, if steak’s more your thing.)
And by my calculations, the rebate (send in a form, get a prepaid Visa card in return) brings this sucker down to a very magical $3.

When it comes to cooking, I am incredibly lazy. I also try to be healthy, and the two don’t always jive.
Once upon a time, long long ago, I was a graduate student in English literature. For a span of three years, I thumbed through, scanned, pretended to read, or actually read hundreds of books, as graduate students are wont to do. I’m occasionally inclined to re-read some of these books (especially the ones I didn’t actually, um, read), but the explosion of marginal notes, dogeared pages, and bored doodlings make it difficult.
